  7. WinZip 6.3 allows users to download and open archives from the Internet
  8. with one click via Microsoft's Internet Explorer and Netscape Navigator.
  9. There is no need to "Save to disk" and then switch to WinZip or to the
  10. Windows Explorer or File Manager to open the downloaded file.  In
  11. addition, all files that have been downloaded are automatically copied
  12. from the Internet Browser's temporary folders to a folder of the user's
  13. choice; this ensures that a permanent copy of the download is saved on
  14. the user's system, even if the downloaded file is automatically deleted
  15. by the browser.

  17. WinZip 6.3 also features an updated zip/unzip engine with automatic
  18. built-in disk spanning support for multi-disk Zip files.  If you create
  19. a zip file on diskettes and the first diskette fills, then disk spanning
  20. is automatically activated, and you are simply prompted to put in a new
  21. diskette to continue the archive.  There is no need to specify that you
  22. want to span before you start.

  24. ** Windows 95 & NT Explorer context (right-click) menus enhancements **

  27. - New "Extract to folder <filename>" makes it easy to unzip in place.

  50.   (WinZip has not needed PKZIP/PKUNZIP to perform basic zipping and

  52.   have assumed from the presence of this option that WinZip is only
  53.   a shell for PKZIP/PKUNZIP, and required these programs for basic
  54.   operations).

  56.   alternative to the Options->Password dialog box.

  71.   technology.  In earlier versions, the self-extracting Zip file's
  72.   integrity check conflicted with Authenticode.  (For information on

  76. ** Switching between this beta and WinZip 6.2 **

  78. You can install this beta version of WinZip without replacing your
  79. currently installed version.  You can do so by directing the setup
  80. procedure to install into a folder different from where your currently
  81. installed version is located.  For example, if you currently have WinZip
  82. 6.2 installed in the folder

  84.         C:\Program Files\WinZip
  85.  
  86. you can specify the folder
  87.  
  88.         C:\Program Files\WinZip Beta
  89.  
  90. as the folder into which this beta version of WinZip should be
  91. installed.  After the installation of WinZip 6.3 completes, you can add
  92. to the WinZip program group a shortcut to WinZip 6.2, allowing you to
  93. have access to both versions of WinZip.

  95. Windows allows only one program to be associated with a given file type.
  96. Therefore, each time you switch from one version of WinZip to the other,
  97. you will see a prompt asking you if you want to associate WinZip (i.e.,
  98. the one you just started) with ZIP files.  Normally you will want to
  99. respond Yes to this message when switching between versions.

  108. is usually helpful to mention which version of you are using (this is
  109. version beta 1), which operating system you are using, and, if you
  110. encounter a problem, the complete text of any error messages and steps
  111. needed to reproduce the problem.
